The GICHD team presented

The GICHD team presented a model for implementing a risk management policy into the UXO sector in Lao PDR. This was aimed at three levels - strategic; operational and field level. At strategic level, it was recommended that a strategic risk map be developed fo rthe whole country to enable a clearer perspective of the current situation of the communities in Lao PDR. the team also proposed a model for implementation to assist with the better targetting of resources at the operational level. Finally at the field level, the team suggested building on the current improving methodologies that have been trialled and implemented over the last year or so.

Finally, the rapid and positive development of the National Regulatory Authority was noted and commended by the team, who noted that it was essential to have such conditions in place.
